Floating park and housing proposed for Royal Docks

·Royal Docks

Royal Docks Waterways has unveiled early proposals for a major transformation of Royal Victoria Dock West. The 12-hectare development is set to include London’s first large-scale floating park alongside a dedicated wellness centre featuring a sauna and spa. The plans place a heavy emphasis on public swimming, with a proposed lido and the retention of open water swimming as a core feature of the site.

The project aligns with the Mayor of London’s Clean and Healthy Waterways strategy, aiming to reposition the area as a destination for leisure and wellness. As part of this shift, the developers have indicated that high-intensity water sports, such as wakeboarding, may be relocated to make room for the new facilities. Public engagement sessions are scheduled for late February and early March, with construction tentatively slated to begin in 2030 pending funding and final approvals.
