London Sauna Prices Compared: What Every Venue Actually Costs

From £5 community sessions to £381 hotel spas, we've compiled the real prices at 70+ London sauna venues so you don't have to.

The London Sauna·

London has over 250 saunas. Working out what they all charge is, frankly, a nightmare. Some list prices clearly on their website. Some hide them behind a booking app. Some require you to phone up and speak to an actual human being, which in 2026 feels like an unreasonable ask.

So we did it for you. Every dedicated sauna venue, every recovery hub, every council spa, every hotel with a day pass, and a stack of gym chains — all in one place, with real prices.

A few things became obvious. You can have a perfectly good sauna session in London for under a tenner. The sweet spot for dedicated social saunas is £15–25. Recovery hubs with infrared and cryo charge roughly double that. And hotel spas exist in a parallel universe where the same basic activity — sitting in a hot room — somehow costs £185 to £381.

Here's what everything actually costs.

Under £10: Yes, Really

The cheapest sauna sessions in London are genuinely cheap. Not "cheap for London" cheap. Actually cheap.

Community Sauna Baths runs four sites across London — Hackney Wick, Ruskin Park, Walthamstow, and Stratford — and they all use the same pricing. Weekday morning sessions start at £9.50. Concession rates for students, NHS workers, Universal Credit recipients, and Blue Light Card holders drop to £5. The Stratford site even offers free NHS slots between 7am and 11am daily. For what you get — communal wood-fired saunas, cold plunge pools, and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere — this is the best value sauna experience in London, full stop.

Lowlu in Wandsworth and Kentish Town starts at £9 off-peak, rising to around £15 at peak times. Book through their app. They're expanding to Ilford and Shepherd's Bush later in 2026.

Active Lambeth's wellness suite at Brixton Recreation Centre charges £8.15 for access to a sauna, steam room, infrared sauna, and spa garden. It's council-run, it's basic, and it's eight quid. Unbeatable if you're in south London.

Several Better leisure centres include sauna access with a swim session at no extra charge. Britannia Leisure Centre in Hackney (swim from £4.55), Oasis Sports Centre in Camden, and Charlton Lido all let you use the sauna when you book a swim. Not glamorous. Completely functional.

£10–20: The Sweet Spot

This is where London's dedicated social sauna scene lives, and it's where you'll find the best balance of quality, atmosphere, and value.

Rooftop Saunas in Hackney and Brixton start at £11 per person for a 30-minute off-peak session in a private cabin with cold plunges. A 60-minute session is £16.50, which gets you a cool-down room with complimentary tea, coffee, and skincare products. Peak prices (evenings and weekends) run higher — up to £22.50 per person depending on group size and duration. Private cabins for up to four people, so the more friends you bring, the cheaper it gets.

Sauna Social Club in Peckham does a 50-minute off-peak session for £14. Their peak "Social Sauna" with lounge access is £24.99 for 70 minutes. Two saunas — one with a built-in sound system — and ice baths. Unwaged tickets available at a reduced rate.

Skuna Boats at West India Quay charges £15 for a 60-minute shared session on Thursdays and Fridays, £20 on weekends. It's a wood-fired floating sauna. You plunge into the dock. It's exactly as good as it sounds.

Urban Heat in Camberwell doesn't publicly list a single drop-in price, but their 10-session pack works out to £14.50 per visit. Communal sauna sessions with two outdoor ice baths.

The Cabin Sauna on Clapham Common is £19 for 60 minutes. Their 15-session pack brings it down to £13.30. Worth knowing: it's seasonal, running roughly October to May, and winter sessions sell out 24–48 hours ahead.

Waking Dreams in Bethnal Green offers a 55-minute sauna and cold plunge session for £19 via Treatwell. New clients can get two sessions for £20 as an intro offer. Nordic-style dry heat at 85–95°C.

Saunos on Regent's Canal charges £20 per person for a 45–75 minute session on a converted Dutch barge. Their 20-session pack drops it to £14. There's something about the gentle rocking of a canal boat that adds to the whole experience.

Stoke Newington Sauna is £20 per session. A 12-person Finnish sauna, a 4-person infrared sauna, and two cold plunge pools. Block bookings bring it down — 8 sessions for £110 works out to £13.75 each.

Sweheat at Royal Victoria Dock is £19.99 for a 90-minute session. Wood-fired sauna, cold plunge pools, dockside setting. Aufguss and special events are £24.99–25.

TEMZ Floating Saunas in Teddington charges £20 for a 50-minute session. Another floating sauna — this one on the Thames. Members get 25% off.

Revitalise Urban Spa in Hackney Downs does a sauna and plunge session for £19.99 off-peak (Mon–Fri 10am–2pm) or £25 at peak times. Add infrared for £37. Lithuanian traditional sauna and copper ice baths.

Community Sauna Baths peak sessions (evenings and weekends) are £16.50. Still under twenty quid for one of the best sauna experiences in the city.

£20–35: Stepping Up

At this price point you're getting longer sessions, more facilities, or a premium setting.

&Soul in Shoreditch offers a day pass from £20 that gets you access to a 40-person Aufguss sauna, cold plunge, and their alcohol-free bar. One-week trial for £29. The Aufguss programming — guided rituals with towel-waving, essential oils, and sometimes live music — is genuinely special.

Covent Garden Health Spa has a standard day pass at £24, early bird at £22, and late night at £18. Under-25s get in free on Wednesdays. Sauna, wet room, spa pool, steam room, and a licensed bar. Worth noting: this is a men's venue.

Sweatbox Soho charges £24 for 24-hour access. Three floors with steam rooms, sauna, and gym. Under-25s free on Mondays and Thursdays. Also a men's venue, open 24/7.

Spa Experience Kensington runs 2-hour thermal sessions from £26 (promotional) to £33 standard. Steam room, sauna, ice fountain, hydrotherapy pool, monsoon shower, and relaxation lounge. Female-only sessions every Tuesday 10am–3pm. This is a council leisure centre with genuinely good thermal facilities — one of London's best-kept secrets.

New Docklands Steam Baths is £27 pre-booked or £30 walk-in. Russian-style banya. NHS and emergency services get in for £20. Monday couples special: 2 for £20.

Arc in Canary Wharf charges around £28 per class. Guided contrast therapy sessions in the UK's largest sauna (40-person capacity). Intro pack: 3 classes for £49. More structured than most — you're guided through the hot-cold cycle rather than doing your own thing.

Contrast Anerley is £29 for a 60-minute sauna and cold plunge session. Maximum four people per session, so it feels semi-private. Add red light therapy for £43 total. Towels, herbal tea, and toiletries included.

Sauna & Plunge in Shoreditch is £30 for a 25-minute sauna and 5-minute cold plunge. Short and sharp. Intro offer: £49 for 2 contrast credits plus a studio class.

Porchester Spa in Westminster is £31.95 for adults, £22.40 for Westminster residents, and £17.60 for seniors. One of London's historic Turkish baths — tepidarium, caldarium, laconium, sauna, and cold plunge. Bring your own towels.

York Hall Spa in Bethnal Green is £32.50 for a 2-hour thermal session. Three hot rooms, two aroma steam rooms, traditional sauna, infrared sauna, ice fountain, plunge pool, and hammam. Reopened in April 2025 after renovation. Council-run, properly done.

Banya No.1 in Hoxton starts at £35 for a 90-minute sauna and plunge session. This is the entry-level "just the banya" option. The real Banya experience — with the parenie birch-beating ritual, scrubs, and treatments — starts at £95 and goes up to £185. Wednesday Club Rituals are £65 for 3 hours including an aroma steam ceremony and sound bath. They also do an unlimited sauna & plunge membership at £50/month, which is excellent value if you go regularly.

Ironmonger Row / Spa Experience thermal sessions run £35–47 for 2 hours, depending on time slot. Post-refurbishment in January 2025, this is a proper thermal spa circuit: salt sauna, juniper sauna with infrared, steam rooms, Turkish baths, cold plunge, and relaxation lounge.

Crowne Plaza Docklands day pass is £35 for one or £55 for two. Pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, and gym.

£35–70: Recovery Hubs and Infrared

Recovery-focused venues with infrared saunas, cryotherapy, and other modalities tend to charge more per minute. You're paying for the tech as much as the heat.

SweatLounge in Chiswick charges £35 for a 30-minute private infrared pod, or £60 for a 40-minute premier cabin with red light therapy. Intro 3-pack: £90 for pods, £150 for cabins.

FS8 Recovery (actually at Finsbury Park, not Blackhorse Lane) does 20-minute infrared sauna sessions for £40 and 40-minute sessions for £60.

Rebase in Marylebone is £40 for a contrast therapy class or £65 for a 60-minute drop-in. Private suite for £150 (up to 3 people, 45 minutes). Finnish sauna, 8 ice baths, bucket showers. They also offer cryotherapy, hyperbaric oxygen, and vitamin infusions.

The Three Elements in Wandsworth charges £45 for a 1-hour Finnish sauna session (1 person), £75 for two, £95 for three. Women-only venue.

Thai Square Spa is £50 for 1 hour or £80 for 2 hours. Sauna, steam room, ice fountain, and jacuzzi. Treatments priced separately and don't include spa access — check before booking.

BXR Lab in Marylebone does 25-minute infrared sauna and cold plunge sessions for £50, 45 minutes for £70. Intro session: £45.

LondonCryo (City, Belgravia, and St John's Wood) charges £59 for a 25-minute infrared sauna or £79 for 45 minutes. They also do cryotherapy at £90 per session. Members pay roughly half.

Cold Hut Recovery in Bromley is the outlier here — just £10 for 20 minutes or £15 for 50 minutes. Private infrared sauna and ice bath suite. Monthly membership at £39.99 for 3 sessions per week. Incredibly cheap for what it is, though the location is outer London.

£80+: Hotel Spas and Luxury Experiences

At this end of the scale, you're paying for marble, robes, and the privilege of sitting in roughly the same temperature as a Community Sauna session that costs ninety times less. Some of these are genuinely beautiful experiences. Some are just expensive.

St. Pancras Spa offers a 4-hour day pass for £84 including gym, sauna, steam room, and pool.

The Bath House in Belgravia starts at £100 for an introductory banya package and goes up to £235 for the premium experience with parenie ritual, two treatments, and lounge access. Authentic Russian banya opposite Buckingham Palace.

Akasha at Hotel Cafe Royal runs packages from £199 to £389. Pool, sauna, steam, jacuzzi, plus treatments and dining.

The Private Spa is £190 for 2 hours of exclusive-use — lounge pool, hot tub, sauna, and steam room for 2–5 guests. It's private hire, so you're booking the whole space.

Bulgari Spa starts at £381 for a spa and brunch package, going up to £1,035 for a two-day programme. No standalone day pass available.

Gym Chains: What Your Membership Gets You

If you're already paying for a gym, you might have sauna access and not even know it. Here's what the major chains charge and whether a sauna is included.

Chain Monthly Cost (London) Sauna Included?
Bannatyne £60–70 Yes, plus pool and spa. Day pass: £30
Fitness First £85–115 At selected locations
Virgin Active £95–210 Most clubs, varies by tier
Nuffield Health £75–137 Yes, plus pool
David Lloyd £95–259 Yes, plus pool and spa. No day passes
ONE LDN (Fulham) £159 Yes, plus ice baths at 4°C and 8°C
Third Space £245+ Yes, premium Finnish saunas
BlocFit (Brixton) £50 Yes, Finnish sauna and cold plunge

Better leisure centres are worth a special mention. Many include sauna access with a swim session at no extra charge, or for a small add-on (£5–10). Their premium Spa Experience locations (Ironmonger Row, Swiss Cottage, Kensington) charge £26–47 for thermal spa sessions.

Everyone Active runs Porchester Spa (£31.95) and Marshall Street Spa (similar pricing). Standard leisure centres like Peckham Pulse include sauna access with a swim booking — and Southwark residents can swim free.

Best Value Memberships and Multi-Packs

If you're going regularly, single session prices stop making sense quickly. Here's where the best recurring value sits:

Venue Deal Per Session
Community Sauna Baths (concession) Concession rate £5
The Cabin Sauna (15-pack) £200 £13.30
Stoke Newington Sauna (8-block) £110 £13.75
Saunos (20-pack) £280 £14
Sauna Social Club (off-peak) 1 credit £14
Urban Heat (10-pack) £145 £14.50
Banya No.1 (unlimited plunge) £50/month Unlimited
Cold Hut Recovery £39.99/month 3x/week
BlocFit Brixton £50/month Unlimited
Bannatyne £60/month Unlimited

Community Sauna Baths also runs a Social Prescribing Scheme — 10 free sessions via NHS referral. If you qualify, it's the best deal going.

The Bottom Line

London sauna pricing breaks down into roughly four tiers:

Under £15 — Community saunas, leisure centres, and multi-pack deals. Perfectly good saunas, often with cold plunge included. The difference between these and a £185 hotel spa session is ambiance, not temperature.

£15–30 — Dedicated social sauna venues. This is the golden zone. Purpose-built facilities, good atmospheres, and the full thermal cycle. Most of the venues people actually rave about sit here.

£30–70 — Recovery hubs and infrared studios. You're paying a premium for specialised equipment (infrared panels, cryotherapy chambers, hyperbaric oxygen) and private or semi-private settings.

£80+ — Hotel spas and luxury experiences. Beautiful spaces, but the sauna itself is often an afterthought — a single room as part of a larger spa circuit. You're paying for the robes, the prosecco, and the postcode.

The honest answer? If you just want a great sauna and cold plunge, you don't need to spend more than £20. Community Sauna Baths at £9.50, Sweheat at £19.99, The Cabin at £19, Rooftop Saunas at £16.50 — these are all excellent. The wood is hot, the water is cold, and your body doesn't know whether the building cost £50,000 or £50 million to fit out.

Save the hotel spa for your birthday.
